I retired from my litho printing company in 2006 and spent three years studying photography at Nottingham Trent University. I achieved a First Class Honours degree at the end of my studies, but the educational qualification wasn't the most important thing that I got – it was the exposure to the history of photography and access to archives of wonderful old photographs, as well as the chance to meet several of the UK's top photographers in both commercial and art photography fields. As a result of this, I am about to start a course of study based on the History of Fine Art, which I hope will lead to either an MA or a Ph. D.
